Cover History

1. Early Magazine Covers

Many of the early magazine covers had the magazine name & the table of contents on the front. Later the covers became similar to the covers of books. They contained the title & publication date. There was no words on the cover to describe what you would find in the book. On the cover, the picture provided was to show the purpose of the magazine & not to show the contents.

2. The Poster Cover

The Poster Cover on magazines created memories, artistic view, & images that were fun to view. The covers of these huge magazines looked as if they were ready to be framed & hung on someone's wall.

Tips On The Portrait

Looking Off Camera - Playing With Eye Contact : have your subject focus their attention on something unseen and outside the field of view of your camera.
Play With The Background : The person in your portrait is the main point of interest – however sometimes when you place them into different contexts with different backgrounds you can dramatically alter the mood in a shot.
Experiment With Subject Expressions : In some portraits it is the expression on the face of your subject that makes the image.
Fill The Frame : Fill It With Something That Catches The Eye.

Portraits & Self Portraits.*

Creativity Makes A Good Picturre. The More Unusual Or Uniquee A Picture Is Helps Make It Appealing Or Fun To Look At. Making It Difficult To Find The Main Subject Witthout Having To Much Going On Is What I'm Going To Try To Do For The Portrait Project. I Think I'm Going To Find Some Kind Of Mural & Put A Person In It To Blend In With What's Going On In The Mural.

Holiday Breakk Questions*

1. What was your most favorite memory of your holiday break?
My favorite memory from the holiday break was taking my 6 yr old cousin, Isabella, to the movies to see a Christmas Carol.

2. Did you go anywhere or do anything fun? If you did, please tell me. If not, tell me what you did do on break?
I went to the movies, mall, etc. Most of the time I hung out with my aunt & uncle.

3. When you look back at 2009, what do you think you will remember the most when you 225 years old? This can be worldly events, local things, personal achievements or events.
I will definatley remember all of the drama that has happened between my family.

Photos Of The Year 2009

This picture caught my eye because the colors make it pop out. The other thing in this picture that is appealing is the way it's in focus. You can't see what's going on in the background, just the flag.

I like this picture, because she's interacting with the "people." It looks like she's actually participating in what they're doing. She has put herself in the middle so it looks like she's taking part in what's going on.

The picture shows emotion & tells a story. Clearly, this man's house burns down. The lighting in the picture creates a spotlight on him in the kitchen that helps get his emotions or feelings across from the look on his face.
